By Muhammad A. Aliyu

Toba Oke, the immediate past Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, has died at the age of 64.

News of his death broke on Sunday evening, though his family is yet to release an official statement. Reports indicate that Oke died at a Lagos hospital, where he was rushed to on Friday, February 7, 2025, due to complications from diabetes.

Despite efforts to stabilize his condition, he passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Sources reveal that he had been battling the disease for several years before his demise.

Oke, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was a two-term chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, one of the largest LGAs in Lagos State. He completed his last tenure in 2021 and remained active in grassroots politics.

After leaving office, he founded the Hope Alive Group, a political movement in Lagos that he coordinated until his passing.

Before venturing into politics, Oke worked with African Independent Television (AIT), where he gained valuable media experience before transitioning into public service.
