The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has welcomed back Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, widely known as Jandor, who was the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate. Following his announcement on Monday rejoining the APC, party officials expressed confidence that his return signals the beginning of more defections to come.

Jandor, who had previously left the APC in 2021 as leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, resigned from the PDP on March 3, citing “lack of discipline” and “betrayal by party leaders” as his reasons for departure.

Responding to the development, Lagos State APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo told reporters, “He is welcome home. We are happy that he now appreciates that Lagos State is still better and safer in the hands of the progressives.”

Notably, Oladejo predicted that Jandor’s return is just the beginning of a larger trend, stating, “We are expecting more defectors in the days ahead.” This suggests the ruling party anticipates additional opposition figures to cross over to the APC fold soon.

Oladejo emphasized that the APC has consistently maintained the “trust and confidence of our people since the inception of this dispensation” and believes Jandor will have ample opportunity to contribute to the “continuous success of our government and the growth of our party.”

The former PDP candidate made his official return to the APC in Lagos on Monday, just weeks after formally resigning from the opposition party where he had run for governor in the 2023 elections.
