As Nigeria intensifies discussions around adopting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a sustainable energy solution, four renowned Nigerian influencers and cultural icons have been selected to participate in a fact-finding mission to India.

The trip, organized by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), features 2Face Idibia, Ola of Lagos, Rarara, and Basket Mouth.

The goal is to showcase how India, one of the world’s leading adopters of CNG, has successfully integrated it into various aspects of daily life, from transportation to industrial use.

The initiative, supported by Femadec Energy and Rolling Energy, aims to foster transparency and spark public engagement on CNG’s potential in Nigeria.

The trip will include visits to CNG conversion centres, refuelling stations, gas distribution hubs, and industrial facilities. It also includes representation from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), underscoring its significance for commercial transportation.

Toyin Subair, Vice Chairman of PCNGI, highlighted the importance of the initiative. “Our goal is to let the people of the country be part of the process of us fully utilizing our number one resource, which is gas. Nigeria cannot afford doubt in this mission to make the country energy competitive, especially the ones sowed by politics and subsidy barons,” he said.

Subair praised the influencers for taking on the role of “the eyes of the people,” adding, “By using trusted voices to show the facts, we’re building confidence in the transition and empowering the public with knowledge.”

India, with over 15 years of experience in CNG adoption and millions of vehicles running on CNG, serves as a practical case study.

The influencers will document their journey in real-time, sharing insights and experiences with their followers across digital platforms to spark informed conversations about Nigeria’s energy future.

O’tega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant (Digital/New Media) to President Bola Tinubu and Head of the Presidential Office of Digital Engagement, emphasized that the initiative aims to encourage public participation.

“This trip is not about promoting policies blindly but about showing Nigerians what’s happening on the ground and encouraging them to ask questions, engage with the facts, and shape the national energy conversation,” he explained.

The trip is a critical part of PCNGI’s strategy to transition Nigeria towards economic independence by leveraging its vast natural gas resources.

It also underscores the importance of using relatable voices to educate the public and build trust in the energy transition.

Stay tuned as 2Face Idibia, Ola of Lagos, Rarara, and Basket Mouth provide an inside look at India’s CNG success story, inspiring Nigeria’s path toward a sustainable energy future.
