Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Sunday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected chairpersons of the 23 local government councils across the state.

The ceremony, held in Port Harcourt, was witnessed by Senator Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.

The swearing-in follows the successful conduct of the Rivers State local government elections, which took place on Saturday.

According to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured victories in 22 out of the 23 local government areas.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli, the Chief Election Officer of RSIEC, announced the results in Port Harcourt. However, the result for Etche Local Government Area was delayed due to ongoing collation.

RSIEC later declared Uzordinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance as the winner of the election in Etche Local Government Area.
