Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Binance executive who escaped custody in Nigeria, has been located in Kenya, according to a source within the presidency who spoke on condition of anonymity.

This development comes as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with international law enforcement agencies, intensifies efforts to expedite Anjarwalla’s extradition.

“We know where he is. He is in Kenya, and we’re working with the authorities to bring him back to Nigeria,” the source confirmed.

EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukuyede, had previously stated in a press release that the commission is coordinating with INTERPOL, as well as authorities in the US, UK, Northern Ireland, and Kenya, to secure Anjarwalla’s extradition.

Anjarwalla faces five-count charges related to tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering, along with Binance Holdings Limited and another executive, Tigran Gambaryan.

The EFCC arraigned Binance and the two executives on April 4, 2024, following Anjarwalla’s escape from custody on March 22.

In related developments, the Nigerian government confirmed that the EFCC has taken full control of the case involving Binance from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

This move underscores the government’s sustained crackdown on Binance over allegations of manipulating the country’s foreign exchange market.
