In celebration of Flash Black Friday, award-winning Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele took a trip down memory lane, delighting fans with nostalgic throwback photos shared on her Instagram page.

The series of images included vintage snapshots of herself, alongside fellow actresses Doris Simeon and Empress Njamah. Captioning the post with a playful warning, she wrote: “Hmmm. Don’t swipe!! If you do, then tag them!!”

The post instantly triggered a wave of admiration in the comment section, with fans and celebrities praising her remarkable journey in the entertainment industry.

Actress Empress Njamah commented, “Kindly allow me to frame this. Fly girls that year. The eyes have eet. Omo, we hawt like that. Busted.”
Toyin Lawani added, “That year, you couldn’t tell us nothing; we were still the flyest that season. All I see is growth, super proud of you always.”

Actress Omowunmi Dada reflected on Akindele’s enduring charm: “The face is a constant. That first picture is my favourite. A naughty little girl destined for greatness.”

Other Nollywood figures like Juliana Olayode, Biola Bayo, Nancy Isime, and Funmi Awelewa also joined in, expressing admiration for Funke’s evolution and applauding her resilience and success.

Akindele’s post resonates even more considering her earlier revelations about the challenges she faced before rising to stardom. Last year, she opened up about overcoming tough times and believing in herself. She shared a behind-the-scenes video from the set of her blockbuster film A Tribe Called Judah, emphasizing the importance of perseverance.

Today, Funke Akindele holds the title of West Africa’s box office queen. Her most recent film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, shattered records by grossing N1.6 billion, surpassing her previous milestone with A Tribe Called Judah, which earned over N1.4 billion.
