Abuja, Nigeria – Former media aide to ex-Kano governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, has paid a visit to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, signaling a new phase in his political journey following his recent move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Okay News reports that Yakasai disclosed on Thursday that the visit was both personal and political, noting that he already shares a cordial relationship with Atiku’s family but is now pleased that they are aligned politically. According to him, the meeting also served as an opportunity to formally brief the former vice-president on his ongoing efforts to drive membership into the ADC.
Okay News reports that the development comes just days after Yakasai officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ADC, marking yet another shift in his political affiliations in recent years. His latest move suggests a strengthening of ties within opposition circles ahead of future political activities.
He added that Atiku welcomed him into the ADC fold and expressed support for his mobilisation efforts, particularly through ongoing membership registration initiatives. The meeting is being seen as a sign of growing collaboration within the party as it positions itself for a stronger role in Nigeria’s political landscape.
