Germany Survives Euro 2024 Scare with Late Goal

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Germany secured a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in their Euro 2024 Group A match, with Niclas Fuellkrug’s stoppage-time goal rescuing the hosts and sending them to the top of the group. Meanwhile, Hungarian striker Barnabas Varga suffered a sickening injury in their match against Scotland, which Hungary won 1-0.

Germany’s victory ensured their advancement to the last 16, where they will face the Group C runners-up, currently Denmark. Switzerland, with five points, will face the second-placed team in Group B.

The win further sets them up for a potential quarter-final clash with Spain, while Scotland’s loss means they will exit the tournament at the group stage for the 12th time in 12 appearances. Hungary’s victory may not be enough to secure their advancement, as they rely on other results to progress.
