Today, Friday March 6th marks Ghana‘s 58th independence anniversary.

The country’s president, John Mahama will address a national parade at the Independence Square amidst other social activities across the country.

Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, respected Ghanaian academic and jurist Prof. Akilagpa Sawyerr believes the country is on a sound track 58 years after independence.

He however, admitted several avoidable mistakes have been committed along the line.

In his words:

“We have made several mistakes, but as a human institution there are missteps”

He also added that the biggest let down of the country was its politicisation of every issue even as he blamed the media for this.

He further said that Ghanaians do not do things as a united people but remained hopeful Ghana is on track pointing out that unity will drive the country to achieve its set objectives.
