Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has appointed Dr. Usman Arabi, General Manager of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), as Chairman of the newly established Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC).
Okay News reports that the appointment, effective from January 2, 2026, was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, following the governor’s assent to bills creating GOSERC and the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission (GIDTEC).
Dr. Arabi brings extensive experience from the national regulator to lead efforts in strengthening electricity oversight in Gombe, a state in northeastern Nigeria.
The governor also named Dr. Al-Amin Umar Barambu as Chairman of GIDTEC, highlighting both appointees’ expertise in driving institutional mandates.
The creation of GOSERC aligns with recent amendments to the Electricity Act, enabling states to regulate their power markets and attract private investment.
