The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has lamented the killing of an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Albani, who was gruesomely murdered by alleged thieves who invaded his house located in the Tabra area along the bypass of the state metropolis.

Yahaya, who attended the funeral prayer of the deceased cleric on Wednesday, at the Bolari Izala Mosque in Gombe, condemned in strong terms, the appalling criminal act that he said has shaken the sense of security and prevailing peace enjoyed in the state.

He said, “We want to reassure the citizens of Gombe State that the government remains resolute in its efforts to uphold the safety and security of its people. We will continue to take comprehensive measures and apply the superiority of our force to clear and flush out criminals in any part of the state, as well as bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice to prevent such incidents from recurring.

“The memory of Sheikh Ibrahim Albani Kuri will serve as a reminder that we must remain vigilant and steadfast in our pursuit of a society where everyone can live in peace and without fear.”

He urged the people of the state to continue to come together in solidarity, and always uphold the values of empathy and unity that religious leaders tirelessly preach and promote.

“The entire state mourns the loss of this scholar and preacher whose teachings and guidance have touched the lives of countless Muslims,” Yahaya added.

Yahaya said, “The late Sheikh Ibrahim was a fountain of knowledge, understanding, and unity; whose teachings transcended boundaries and brought people together.

“His loss will be deeply felt by all, and his legacy will forever inspire the people.”
