GOMBE, Nigeria – Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant Monica Yahaya Kaltho has withdrawn from a court case challenging the party’s governorship primary process and declared support for its 2027 candidate, Professor Isa Ali Pantami.
Okay News reports that Kaltho was among the aspirants involved in the legal action filed by aggrieved PDP members over the party’s governorship primary, which had only one candidate for affirmation.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Kaltho said she took the decision after consultations and following an appeal from Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, the PDP leader in Gombe State.
She described Dankwambo as a father and leader whose counsel she respected, saying the unity of the party and the development of Gombe State were more important than personal ambition.
Kaltho also pledged to work for Pantami’s victory in the 2027 governorship election, urging PDP members to remain focused on the party’s collective goal.
Reacting to the development, Pantami praised Kaltho’s maturity, patriotism and commitment to party unity. He assured her that she remained an important stakeholder in the party’s campaign and efforts to build a stronger PDP.
As a mark of appreciation, Pantami visited Kaltho at her residence to thank her for what he described as a sacrifice made in the interest of the PDP and the people of Gombe State.
