Silicon Valley, California, USA – Google has offered its Chief Executive Officer, Sundar Pichai, a compensation package worth up to $692 million (about ₦1.04 trillion) over the next three years, potentially placing him among the highest-paid corporate executives globally.
Okay News reports that the package was disclosed in a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. While Pichai’s base salary will remain $6 million (about ₦9 billion) over three years—equivalent to $2 million (about ₦3 billion) annually—the majority of the compensation will come through Alphabet stock awards tied to performance.
The package also includes potential share allocations in two Alphabet subsidiaries: Waymo, the company’s autonomous vehicle division, and Wing, its drone delivery service. According to the filing, Pichai could receive about $175 million (around ₦262.5 billion) from these subsidiaries alone.
The breakdown includes roughly $130 million (about ₦195 billion) linked to Waymo and $45 million (about ₦67.5 billion) tied to Wing. However, these payouts depend on the performance of the companies’ shares and Alphabet’s dividend performance.
The filing also states that if Pichai is dismissed before certain conditions are met, he would lose any stock options that have not yet vested.
Pichai has served as CEO of Google since 2015 and became CEO of Alphabet, Google’s parent company, in 2019. Since joining the company in 2004, he has overseen the development and expansion of major products including Chrome, Android, Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Workspace.
