Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has directed the commissioner for finance to put in motion a process to pay the June 2017 salary to workers who did not join the striking workers.

This is following the strike action embarked upon by some workers in the state over the none implementation of the 13 points agreement entered by the government and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as well as Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Ayade vehemently ordered that salary be paid to only those who have been coming to work.

This according to Daily Post findings, is the actual enforcement of the policy of ‘no work no pay’ Labour law.

If this actually come to play, thousands of workers will be affected.

A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Ita said Governor Ayade has ordered that the salary be paid before the end of the week.

”His Excellency, Senator Professor Ben Ayade has directed the Commissioner for Finance, Head of Service and Accountant General to immediately commence the process for the payment of June salary to state workers who have been at work while the strike lasts,” the statement added.
