Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state has granted pardon to 39 prisoners serving various jail terms in the state.

This was made known in a statement by the state’s commissioner for information and strategy, Ahmed Sajoh.

The commissioner advised the released prisoners to use their earned freedom to turn a new leaf in their lives.

Sajoh said: “Eleven of the released prisoners were from Yola prison, nine from Jimeta prison, while one of the convicts was from Ganye prison.

“The measure was part of the prerogative of mercy by the governor and acting on the advisory committee of the Prerogative of mercy headed by Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Silas Sanga.

“Others released prisoners were nine from Jada prison and seven from Numan prison while two others had their death sentences commuted to life sentences.”
