Gov Lawal Approves State Allowance Clearance for NYSC Members in Zamfara

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

GUSAU, Nigeria — The Zamfara State Governor, Malam Dauda Lawal, has approved the comprehensive clearance and immediate payment of accumulated state allowances and stipends to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed across the state.

The executive directive was officially confirmed on Friday, June 19, 2026, as part of the administration’s broader policy to permanently stabilize welfare guarantees for frontline youth corp members.

Okay News reports that the financial approval covers a wide, multi-tier grid of young graduates, stretching comprehensively from Batch A (Streams I and II) through to Batch C (Streams I and II). In an official statement issued by the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, the state government clarified that the gesture is a direct reward for the immense patriotism, operational dedication, and community development contributions rendered by the corps members within key public sectors, including healthcare, primary education, and agrotech development.

This structural intervention directly builds upon Governor Lawal’s welfare reforms, which previously instituted a 100% upward increment in stipends—setting monthly allowances to ₦20,000 for regular corps members posted to ministries and schools, ₦50,000 for allied health professionals, and ₦150,000 for serving medical doctors. To ensure a hitch-free disbursement process, Governor Lawal has strictly directed the Office of the Accountant-General to finalize all necessary administrative arrangements with the central banking networks to begin direct credit alerts to the beneficiaries’ accounts without bureaucratic delays.
