Gov. Simon Lalong Impose Dusk-to-dawn Curfew In Bassa LGA of Plateau State

The Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, on Friday imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on communities in Bassa local government area of the state.

The curfew is to run from 6am to 6pm daily.

This was in reaction to the outbreak of violence and incessant attacks by members of the communities.

The curfew order was disclosed in a statement by Emmanuel Nanle, Director of Press Affairs.

“There are recurring incidences of attacks on Irigwe chiefdom and neighbouring areas around Bassa; there are also attacks on communities on the borders of the local government, especially around Vom in Jos South and Manchok in Kaduna State.

“To guarantee effective security operation toward protecting life and property, the governor has approved the imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew, which takes effect immediately,” the statement read in part.

The Bassa community has been witnessing unrest with Friday;s attack the third in as many weeks. The attacks have so far claimed over 20 lives and led to the destruction of property.
