Osun State governor has appointed Professor Labode Popoola as the new Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Osogbo.
A statement signed by the Director of the Bureau of Communication and Strategy in the Office of the Governor, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, on Friday said the appointment of takes effect immediately.
Okanlawon said Governor Aregbesola approved the appointment of the new VC for UNIOSUN following the recommendation of the Council of the institution.
He explained that the recommendation which was signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council of the university, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN) was forwarded to the governor and approved by Aregbesola after considering the report of the selection board.
Born on September 28, 1960, Professor Popoola hails from Inisa in Osun State and worked at the Department of Forest Resources Management, University Ibadan in Oyo state.
The new VC would take over from Professor Jelili Oguntola Alamu who has been at the helms of affairs as Acting VC since last year.
