Kano State governor on Wednesday presented an estimated budget of N209, 857,330,488 for the year 2017 to the State House of Assembly for passage.

The budget was lower than that of year 2016 by N65bn.

Last year, the state budgeted a total of N274,824,600,378.00 with recurrent and capital expenditures of N157,410,532,069 and N191,940,931,633 respectively.

The capital and recurrent expenditures of the budget tagged ‘Budget for Sustainable Self-Reliance’ stood at N130, 486,682,677.00 and N79, 370,647,811.00 respectively.

The Ministry of works and Housing got the lion share of N43.72bn, education got N17.5bn, water resources got N13.5bn, health got N10.74bn and Agriculture got N6.6bn.
