Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Saturday, banned street trading in the state.

The governor gave this order during the inauguration of projects completed by his administration to mark his first year in office.

He also assured the people of Rivers State that he would never carve out any part of the state to any individual or group to control for any reason.

Wike said, “I want to appreciate you for your support, but do not be angry for the decision I am going to take now because from today, government has banned street trading and illegal extortion on traders by some hoodlums. When the hoodlums come to you, do not pay, but no more street trading.”

Also, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, who attended the ceremony said the All Progressives Congress should jettison the idea of ruling Rivers State again.

Fayose added that Wike was cleaning up the mess created by the APC through people-oriented projects.

He pointed out that those who looted Rivers money were no longer in power and that the current governor has the zeal and energy needed to deliver on his electoral promises.

“Never again will APC or an alien rule Rivers State. Those people, who are squandering Rivers money, are no longer in power in the state. Governor Wike is cleaning the mess of the past administration in the state. This is enough reason to continue to support him and the PDP,” Fayose said.

The inauguration of projects by Wike rounded off his four-day exercise in Port Harcourt and its environs.

Eliozu-Rumuduru-Oru-Igwe Road, Eneka-Rukpokwu Road, Bishop Okoye Road, Azikiwe Road, Mandela road and Rumuagholu were among projects he inaugurated as part of activities marking his first year in office.
