Guardiola Defends Haaland After Manchester City’s Draw with Chelsea

By Yusuf Abubakar

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has come out in defense of striker Erling Haaland following their 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Haaland, who made his debut for City, had nine attempts at goal during the match but failed to find the back of the net.

Despite the missed opportunities, Guardiola refused to place blame on the Norwegian striker.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Guardiola acknowledged Haaland’s efforts, stating that it was positive to see him take nine shots during the game.

He expressed confidence that the prolific striker would convert his chances in future matches.

“It’s good to have nine shots, and next time he’s going to score. I was a football player for 11 years and scored 11 goals. I’m not a proper man to give advice to strikers,” Guardiola said.

“We create the chances, he had the chances and next time he’s going to score. I don’t blame him. It’s football, it’s human beings,” he added.

The result saw Manchester City slip behind Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League table.
