Some unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits on Tuesday abducted the village head of Garin Labo in Batsari LG of Katsina state.

According to reports, the bandits stormed the village head’s farm around 1pm on 11 June, 2019, and whiskey away with him.

Spokesman for the Katsina police command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday saying officers of the force were making efforts to rescue the abducted village head.

He said, “It is true. Efforts are on course with a view to rescuing him from these rascals. Operation Puff Adder responded to the distress call but since it was inside his farmland far away near the Rugu forest but before they could get to the place, the hoodlums have already fled into the Rugu forest. We are following a lead that may assist us in his rescue.

“The command is calling on members of the communities in the affected areas to always form groups while going to their farms and inform security agencies for back up.”

It can be recalled that Musa Umar, a District Head of Daura in Katsina State was also kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

His whereabout is still unknown for over 40 days since the incident happened.
