A lecturer in the Faculty of Education, University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Ebi Awotua-Efebo has been abducted.

According to reports, the lecturer was whisked away along with his driver shortly after they drove out of the university premises, Tuesday morning.

The kidnappers have since established contat with allies of the lecturer. They are reportedly demanding N50 million in ransom payment.

The university’s spokesman, Dr. William Wodi confirmed the abduction but did not have the details of the incident.

The Rivers state police PRO, DSP Ahmad Mohammad said the police were aware of the kidnap and were doing all they could to rescue the victims.
