A least one police officer was killed during a gunman attack on the Inyi police station in Enugu State’s Oji River council area. The police station was also set on fire.

The gunmen are also suspected of having slain two civilians during the raid.

Yesterday morning, the gunmen allegedly broke into the neighbourhood and seized the station.

A Chinese expatriate was also slain by gunmen in neighbouring Ebonyi State after disarming his police bodyguards at a mining location in the Iboko, Izzi local government of Ebonyi State.

According to reports, the gunmen who assaulted the Inyi police station chanted, “no election, Police in Biafra land,” while they committed their heinous crime.

Two young men’s dead were found by the station’s perimeter fence and a burning police station was also visible in a viral video of the incident that went viral yesterday afternoon.

The two victims were identified as cops by some people heard in the background of the film, although another person claimed he could only make out one of them as a station-affiliated policeman.

A local who lives close to the police station verified the attack.

“I recently learned from my neighbourhood that unidentified gunmen attacked the police station in my town and killed one police officer. I don’t have any more information at this time,” he stated.

Meanwhile, residents of Inyi, Achi, Ufuma, Umunze, Ajari, and Arondiizogu were urged to exercise caution and security awareness in their neighbourhoods due to a revival of gunman activity, according to a security notice being shared on social media in the capital of Enugu State.

In response to a question regarding the event, Daniel Ndukwe, spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, has not yet provided a reply to the incident so far.
