Popular Nigerian Artiste, Harrison Okiri a.k.a Harrysong has been nominated in the African Artiste of the Year category at the 17th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA)

The VGMA established in 2000 is the most respected and most anticipated music awards scheme in Ghana and one of the biggest and most consistent in Africa.

Speaking on his nomination, Harrysong told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja that God and his fans were behind his success story.

“It is indeed an honour to be nominated as African Artiste of the year, Ghana Music Awards.

“I have worked so hard for this and even more, and I couldn’t have gone this far without God and my fans.

“It’s been God and my fans all the years, and I love them so much because they are almost everything I have,’’ he said.

Harrysong urged upcoming artiste to be consistent and trust God in all they do.

“Every upcoming artiste should stick to working hard, believing in themselves, and praying constantly.

“Those are the major keys to success, so let’s get this award my people,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the Awards ceremony is scheduled for May 7 at the Accra International Conference Center, Accra Ghana.

Among the past winners of the awards are; P-Square, D-banj, Brenda Fassie, Ice prince, Davido and Wizkid

Born on March 30, 1981 in Warri, Harrysong, a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist rose to fame after his tribute song to Nelson Mandela won the “Most Downloaded Callertune Award’’ at The Headies 2013.

Some of his hits are; Raggae Blues, Beta Pikin, Shine Shine Baby, Feel it Africa, Aunty Bisi and Ebeano.
