The leadership of the House of Representatives, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, visited the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos on July 20, 2024. This marks the second visit by federal lawmakers to the refinery in two months, following a previous visit by Senate President Godswill Akpabio in June.

During the visit, the lawmakers were received by Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, and top executives of the refinery. They are expected to tour the 650,000 barrels per day refinery, which is scheduled to start supplying petrol next month.

The visit comes at a crucial time for the refinery, as it faces challenges in accessing crude oil needed for production, with allegations of attempts by international oil companies to frustrate its operations. The visit demonstrates the support of federal lawmakers for the project, which has been praised for its significance in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
