A member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Hassan was elected to the National Assembly in 2023.
In a statement issued on Saturday, House Spokesman Akin Rotimi described Hassan’s death as a “profound loss,” noting that the nation has lost one of its most skilled legislative counsel and legal draftsmen. Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, also expressed his shock, praising the late lawmaker as a “brilliant and hardworking” representative who served both his constituents and Nigeria with great diligence.
The deceased is expected to be buried later today, Saturday, April 11, 2026, in accordance with Islamic rites.
