Head Coach of Nigeria U-23 Eagles, Samson Siasia, has said that his players’ unflinching fighting spirit contributed to Nigeria’s  5-4 win against Japan in their first Group B match of the 2016 Olympics early Friday Morning (Nigerian time).
Siasia and his boys got to Manaus only a few hours before kick-off against Japan, and still went on to claim all three points.
Siasia however admitted that he was surprised by the outcome of the game.
“I don’t know how we did it.”
“We just didn’t want to give up. We had this fighting spirit and wanted to show what we were made of.
“Even though we were tired, we never gave up.”
Up next for the U-23 Eagles is a clash against Sweden who drew 2-2 with Colombia in the other Group B match.
