How Raymond Dokpesi Was Treated on Getting to Kuje Prison

Owner of DAAR Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, yesterday was remanded in prison pending when he fulfill bail conditions granted him.

He was arraigned for his alleged involvement in an arms deal fraud to the tune of $2bn.

According to The Nation, Dokpesi was brought to the prison at about 4.55pm and immediately taken to the Prison Chief’s office.

“Upon sighting Dokpesi, most of the inmates who were abreast of the ongoing anti-corruption trials, were anxious to see him,” a prison official said.

“But we decided to keep him in the office of the Officer-In-Charge to avoid being hurt by some inmates. Warders succeeded in shielding him from inmates.”

The official described Dokpesi as “certainly moody” and added that preparations had been made and he’s being allotted a cell.
