Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to integrate advanced humanoid robots into its Georgia-based manufacturing plant beginning in 2028.
Developed by Boston Dynamics, the “Atlas” robot is designed to handle repetitive and high-risk tasks, such as parts sequencing, to improve safety and efficiency on the production floor.
Okay News understands that the automotive giant aims to establish a facility capable of producing 30,000 robot units annually by 2028.
The long-term vision involves expanding these robotic capabilities by 2030 to include complex component assembly and the handling of heavy loads across various manufacturing sites.
To support this transition into “physical AI,” Hyundai is collaborating with global technology leaders like Google and Nvidia to refine robot safety and decision-making.
Despite concerns regarding automation, the company maintains that human workers will remain essential for the specialized maintenance and training required for these sophisticated machines.
