US President Donald Trump has said he is “not happy” with the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.
Okay News reports that Trump made the remarks during an interview with Fox News on Monday while reacting to the decision by Iran’s Assembly of Experts to appoint Mojtaba Khamenei as the successor to his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Trump said Iran had previously aimed hundreds of missiles at countries across the Middle East but claimed the regional balance had shifted following recent US military actions.
According to him, the United States had dealt Iran a severe blow and significantly weakened its capabilities.
He also stated that ships should not fear crossing the Strait of Hormuz despite rising tensions in the region.
Mojtaba Khamenei was announced as Iran’s new Supreme Leader after the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, marking a significant leadership change in Iran amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
