Bindow-Jibrilla--300x287

Governor of Adamawa State Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindowo has said that his administration inherited a debt profile of N40.5 billion from the administration of former governor, Bala James Nggillari.

Bindowo made the disclosure when APC chairmen from the 21 local governments of the state paid him a commiseration visit over the recent bomb blast in the state.

He said his government is seriously hamstrung by the huge debt profile bequeathed to him by Governor Bala Nggilari urging the people to persevere a little before his administration stabilise and commence development projects noting that despite the challenges, it is incumbent on him to meet the yearnings of the people.

He urged the people of the state to continue to give his administration the needed support as all hands should be on deck to ensure that the state is put on the trajectory of development.

In another development, Bindowo has chided the immediate past governor of the state, Bala Nggilari over statements which the former governor made to the effect that he did not steal a penny from the state coffers as his tenure lasted.

Bindowo said the submission of Nggilari was far from the truth as his government has shortchanged the state in a number of transactions.

He said it was unfortunate for a governor who bought two refurbished SUVs at the cost of N180 million to come around and start pontificating that he is pious. Bindowo noted that since the former governor could not respect himself and maintain silence, it will be incumbent for him(Bindowo) to unravel the sordid transactions.
