The Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa, has dismissed claims that he has been expelled from the party, insisting that he remains the legitimate leader of the NNPP in the state.

Dungurawa spoke on Tuesday, about 24 hours after some executives of Gargari Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area announced his purported expulsion from the party. He described the move as unlawful and lacking constitutional backing.

According to him, ward executives do not have the authority to remove him from office, noting that he is also a member of the NNPP National Executive Committee, which supersedes ward structures. Dungurawa said he was surprised by the action and claimed he was yet to be formally informed of any offence warranting such a decision.

The NNPP chairman warned that legal steps would be taken against individuals parading themselves as party leaders in Kano State, adding that they could be arrested for impersonation if they continue to misrepresent the party’s leadership structure.
