“I want to end my career at Bernabeu” – Sergio Ramos reveals

By Promise Amadi

Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, has revealed that he wants to end his career at Real Madrid despite receiving an offer to play in China.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Ramos said:

I want to make my future very clear: there has never been a clash between [me and Florentino Perez] and I want to fulfill my contract here,

The day I leave, I want to go out from the big door, which is how I deserve to leave.

I would have renewed for life as Florentino and I have a father-son relationship. The friction produces love; he has always shown me a special affection.

I do not want to go. My dream is to retire here and I’ve always told him that I want to stay.

I’d play here for free because that’s how I feel, and the best thing was to sit face-to-face to fix [the issue].

Money is a minor problem and we didn’t talk about the economic part.

It’s a matter of trust and emotional affection as there were things that hurt me, and it was better to talk face-to-face.

The 33-year-old center-back went ahead to reveal why he rejected the offer from China.

The offer is on the table and I would have considered it but the relation [with the club] was not as I thought it was, he added.

It’s speculation and I wanted to fix it, 15 days before my wedding [to Pilar Rubio].

I am like this and when something is wrong, I go to talk face-to-face; I say my piece and it is fixed.

I am happy with my contract and I didn’t want to leave, neither for free nor on a fee.

It was just an afternoon with the president; it’s fixed and we want to create a good project [at the club].

Ramos has won 20 trophies during his 14 years at the Bernabeu Stadium, including four Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.
