Ramalan-Yero

Immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Muhktar Ramalan Yero (Dallatun Zazzau) has debunked media report that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), saying he was only invited and he honoured the invitation extended to him by the anti-graft agency. He said he went there on his own volition as part of the on-going investigation into campaign funds of 2015 general elections.

He gave the clarification while speaking with journalists after his condolence visit to the senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani over his mother’s demise.

According to the Dallatun Zazzau,  “the investigation by the EFCC is over the N700 million for the 2015 elections from the Presidency down to the House of Representatives and the money was disbursed as directed down to the ward levels without any individual benefiting as speculated.

“I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited on a Friday through a phone call. Someone called me through our former party chairman’s phone; Chief A.G. Haruna. At that time I was in Jalingo conducting the North East congresses, because I was the chairman of the congress in the North East.

“They asked me to be in Kano on Saturday in connection with the investigation they are doing that has to do with some funds that was given for 2015 general elections. But I told them I can’t make it on that Saturday to Kano but will be there on Monday by God’s grace.

“I came back to Kaduna on Sunday and left for Kano on Monday morning along with our party chairman, Chief A. G. Haruna, former Minister Nuhu Wya as well as the former SSG Hamza Isi’ak Danmahawayi because they were all invited by the EFCC and none of us was arrested  we presented ourselves to EFCC in Kano.

“While there, they said Kaduna State was given the sum of N700 million naira which is true, and everyone knows that all the political parties in this country spent money for elections, which is nothing new and the PDP is not an exception.
