Ibrahim Kashim has stepped down from his position as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Bauchi State.

The resignation was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by Mukhtar Gidado, media aide to Governor Bala Mohammed. The governor has accepted the resignation and appointed Aminu Gamawa, the Chief of Staff, as the acting SSG.

“Governor Bala Mohammed has accepted the resignation of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Ibrahim Kashim, with immediate effect,” the statement reads.

“The Chief of Staff, Government House, Bauchi, Mr. Aminu Gamawa, has been directed to take over from him in an acting capacity. Governor Mohammed, on behalf of the government and the people of Bauchi State, thanked him for the services he rendered to the state and wished him well in his future endeavours.”

Kashim has had a long-standing role in Bauchi’s administration. Initially appointed as SSG in 2019, he resigned during the lead-up to the 2023 elections to pursue the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial ticket in the state. His resignation created a pathway for the then-interim governor, Bala Mohammed, to contest the party’s presidential ticket.

Kashim subsequently won the PDP gubernatorial primary, but later withdrew from the race. A new primary was held, and Mohammed clinched the party’s ticket unopposed. Mohammed later secured re-election as governor in the general elections, after which Kashim was reappointed as SSG.
