Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council says the Igbos are not cowards, urging those of its descent living in the North to prepare to defend themselves against possible attack by northerners.

The National President of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, stated this when he addressed newsmen after a meeting in Enugu on Wednesday.

Ohanaeze was reacting to the three months eviction notice given to the Igbos in the north by a coalition of northern youth groups.

”They are at it again and this is a sad reminder of the civil war. This is how it started as a joke and before we knew it, a coordinated and simultaneous attack was launched against the Igbos in the North.
Sad commentary

”We, however, wish to state unequivocally that the Igbos are not cowards. Ndigbo want to make it categorically clear that we are ready for them. We cannot be intimidated by their ranting.

”Igbo resident in the North should get ready to defend themselves in the event of any provocation and attack from the Arewa youths,” Isiguzoro said.

Isiguzoro noted that the development could lead to another civil war in the country, adding that, it is ”a sad development considering the efforts being made to unite this country”.
