Igbos in Adamawa State have condemned the violent activities of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East.

Speaking to journalists in Yola on Friday after a meeting with members of the State Security Council, the President General of Igbo Cultural Association in Adamawa state, Obonna Paul Ibere accused IPOB of ‎attempt to destablise the region.

“Anybody found guilty of committing crimes against the nation should be treated as an individual.

“See this issue of IPOB as an issue that is destined to happen, expect that some disgruntled people are trying to over blow the situation out of proportion” he said.

He appealed for caution on the part of military peronnel deployed to maintain peace in the troubled region so as to avoid infringing on the rights of innocent citizens.

‎Earlier, the Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ahmed Sajoh said the meeting was convened to re-assure the Igbos of their safety in the state.

He reiterated the resolve of the administration to ensure protection of lives and properties of the people living in the state irrespective of their ethnicity.
