Abuja, Nigeria – The Inspector-General of Police, , has hosted a landmark interfaith Iftar and Lent dinner at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, bringing together officers from different religious backgrounds in a rare show of unity and shared purpose within the Nigeria Police Force.

Okay News reports that the event, described as the first of its kind at the Force Headquarters, was aimed at strengthening religious harmony, discipline, and cohesion among personnel. The gathering attracted key dignitaries and stakeholders, including lawmakers overseeing police affairs, representatives of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, and religious leaders, all underscoring the importance of collaboration and mutual respect in national security efforts.

Speaking at the event, the IGP highlighted Ramadan and Lent as sacred periods of reflection, sacrifice, and service, stressing that despite differences in faith, officers remain united by core values of professionalism and duty. He urged Muslim faithful to embrace peace, tolerance, and selflessness, while reaffirming that religious harmony within the Force is essential for effective policing and national stability.

Disu further assured Nigerians that security arrangements have been significantly reinforced across the country, with increased deployments, surveillance, and proactive policing measures already in place to ensure a safe and peaceful festive period. He reiterated the Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property nationwide before, during, and after the celebrations.
