Abuja, Nigeria – Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police has presented cheques worth over ₦2.4 billion to families and next-of-kin of deceased officers under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

Okay News reports that the disbursement, which took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, benefited 1,075 recipients and covered multiple policy years, including outstanding insurance claims from previous periods.

Speaking at the event, Force Insurance Officer Lydia Ameh said the payments reflect the IGP’s commitment to prioritising personnel welfare and ensuring compliance by insurance providers to prevent delays in claims settlement.

In his remarks, IGP Disu described the initiative as a tribute to officers who died in the line of duty, stressing that the gesture represents the Force’s continued obligation to support their families while honouring their sacrifice.
