Bouncing from one success to another Ibrahim Ayo Balogun popularly known by his stage name Wizkid is just one top shot everyone is listening to now.

After getting massive acceptance from the international scene last year scooping awards from every award show both locally and intentionally . Wizkid feels he is not even thinking of the crossing over thing everyone is saying he said;

“I JUST WANT TO MAKE GOOD MUSIC FOR THE WORLD. IT’S REALLY NOT IN MY MIND TO CROSS OVER TO AMERICA. I HAVE MY OWN FAN BASE, WHICH IS AFRICA.”

With the Afro-beat type of music going far and even top international artistes such Alicia Keys, R Kelly, Pia Mia, Machel Motano, Antony David and a whole lot more relating and wanting to do the sound .. Wizkid doesn’t see himself as the face of the genre he said;

“I’m not really seeing myself as the one champion of the movement,” Wizkid says. “I’m just contributing my own little part. Keep the movement moving, and take it there, you know?”

Speaking on inspiration, Wizkid named icons like the late Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and made mention in relation to afro beats he don’t want to live like Fela.

“Every artist has that one person that inspired them, or a group of artists that inspired them,” he says.

“Fela happens to be a very big inspiration to my music, Bob Marley as well. So I’m just here spreading good vibes. I’m not trying to live like Fela or do what he has done. I just appreciate everything he did when he was alive and I am here to create my own legacy.”
