Today Hon. Habib Musa Jega who is the Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly has been impeached.

The impeachment was signed by 16 members out of 24 members of the House.  His deputy, and other principal officers of the Assembly have resigned from their position too.

Jega says that this decision is a result of unfair treatment meted out to the members by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to the information provided by the unknown source to Premium Times, the speaker and 16 other members in the house have approached the APC and are set to defect from the PDP.

The source says: “As we speak all arrangements are concluded to receive them either over the weekend, or at most by Monday.”

Hon Mohammed Shalla Gwandu, the new speaker, thanked the House for the trust they had in him and promised to work harmoniously with all members and the state government.

He said: “I thank all the members for the confidence they have in me and promise to work harmoniously with both the state government and members of the House so that our people will reap dividends of democracy”.
