An Indonesian carrier, Lion Air’s flight JT-610, crashed into the sea north of Jakarta, while conveying passengers from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang , on Monday morning, October 29.

According to the UK Daily Mail, the plane which had 189 people on board, lost contact with air control, just 13 minutes after take off.

okay.ng gathered that the individuals on board the aircraft included 178 adults, one child, two babies, two pilots and five flight attendants.

The plane’s pilot, Bhavye Suneja, an Indian national, had asked to return to the airport after reporting technical difficulties, before the tragic incident occurred.

The return was allowed by traffic control, however, the aircraft vanished from the radar shortly after.

The Times of India also reports that the crash was confirmed by the Indonesian search and rescue agency.

Harrowing photos also reportedly began to emerge, showing a haunting scene of debris and personal belongings picked up from the water’s surface by ships that reached the crash area.

The head of the search and rescue agency, Muhmmad Syaugyi, also disclosed that body parts had been seen floating in the ocean near the crash site.

Addressing a news conference, Syaugyi firther disclosed that it was not known if there were any survivors.

He stated: “We don’t know yet whether there are any survivors. We hope, we pray, but we cannot confirm.”
