The Independent National Electoral Commission has accredited 121 domestic and international observer groups ahead of the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

In an announcement published on Monday, INEC listed organisations cleared to monitor the electoral process and assess its transparency, credibility, and adherence to democratic standards.

According to the commission, accredited international observers include the British High Commission, the European Union, and the High Commission of Canada.

On the domestic front, civil society organisations such as Yiaga Africa Initiative, The Electoral Hub, and the Centre for Democracy and Development have been approved to participate in election observation.

The observers will assess the conduct of polling, collation, and result management to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.

INEC also confirmed that over 2.8 million registered voters are expected to participate in the off-cycle governorship election.

Sixteen political parties met the submission deadline of May 12 and have fielded candidates for the contest. The electoral body has already released the final list of candidates and approved the commencement of campaign activities.

INEC stated that the accreditation of observer groups is part of its commitment to maintaining openness and credibility in electoral processes across the country.

The commission noted that observation reports from both domestic and international bodies would help strengthen future elections through constructive recommendations.

The Anambra governorship election will be closely watched as part of ongoing efforts to improve Nigeria’s electoral system through transparency and public trust.
