‘INEC Has my Certificates’ – Buhari

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, says Nigerians ought to have listened to INEC instead of making an issue over the ingenuity of his certificate.

Buhari said this in an interview with newsmen after an initial briefing where the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) presented a resolution supporting his candidature for the Feb. 14 presidential election.

According to him, INEC has his certificates, adding that anyone with a difference of opinion should seek redress in court.

“Well, I’m not surprised, this is Nigeria. If people are serious about this issue they ought to have listened to INEC.

“I ran for this office, this is the fourth time, INEC by law has got those documents, they say they’ve got them; anybody who has got any different opinion should go to court.

“They are now in court so let them remain there,’’ Buhari said.

Also reacting to questions after the briefing, Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim, the National Chairman of PDM, denied Atiku’s involvement or coercion in his party’s support for the APC presidential candidate.

“Nobody is allowed to be a member of two political parties. Atiku Abubakar ran for his presidential ambition on the platform of APC; so this is not possible,’’ Ibrahim said.

Meanwhile, an Abuja-based lawyer, Chike Okafor, has asked a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to disqualify Buhari from contesting the Feb. 14 presidential election on account of false information.
