He was announced winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), after the election was rounded off across polling booths in the constituency and votes counted.

Olaitan scored 7, 640 of the 9, 689 vote cast to emerge as winner of the election, defeating his closest rivals, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Babatope Akinyele and African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Olugbenga Owolabi, who both scored 1, 771 and 158 votes respectively.

In polling booths visited during the exercise, it was observed that electoral officers kept to the 2:00pm deadline set by the INEC to round off the electoral process.
