INEC declares APC’s Simon Lalong winner of Plateau state governorship election

Simon Lalong, incumbent governor of Plateau state and also All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the state has won his reelection bid.

Lalong, defeated Jeremiah Useni, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 546,813 votes in the election.

Richard Kirmbi, returning officer for the election, announced the result at the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) head office in Plateau around 4am on Sunday.

INEC had the March 9 election inconclusive based on the number of cancelled votes being higher than the margin between the two leading candidates in the election.

The supplementary election took place across nine local government areas of the state.
