The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed April 23, 2016 as the rerun election for the House of Representatives seat for Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Gujba and Gulani Federal Constituency in Yobe State.

Meanwhile, speaking in Damaturu, Yobe State, a candidate from the federal constituency, Hon Abdulahi Usman Kukuwa, has urged politicians in his constituency to shun politics of bitterness during the rerun elections.

He said politics should be played according to the rules in a manner that would promote democracy and bring about meaningful development to the people of the constituency and Yobe in general.

He called on the politicians, especially candidates of all the political parties in the rerun elections to shun violence and embrace peace throughout the electioneering campaign.

He also assured that, he would provide development projects in his constituency and reiterated his call to the people to embrace peace at all times and support government policies in order to move the state forward.

“Kukuwa says he remain the most qualified to replace Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim wife of the former Governor of Yobe state, who was given ministerial appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari to represent Yobe state at a National Level” he said.

Kukuwa has lamented that, the politicians should carry out issues- based campaign, instead of making hate speeches and mud sliding campaign capable of causing crisis during rerun election in the state.

He adding that, “I will like to used this medium to assure my people that, I strongly feel that Yobe state needs additional voices at the national assembly and I feel i have what it takes to deliver, i will win by the grace of God.”
