After about seven months of non-representation for Imo North Senatorial District and three seats in the Imo State House of Assembly, both the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties and stakeholders met on Thursday in Owerri and decided that the re-rerun polls would hold tentatively from July 23 through July 30 in the affected areas.

The Appeal Court had voided the Imo North senatorial election hitherto won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Chief Athan Achonu, as opposed to the immediate past Speaker of the Imo House of Assembly, Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu.

Other seats annulled by the court included the Owerri West, Oru East and Isiala Mbano state constituencies. The court had directed that the polls be held within 90 days.
