The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday issued certificates of registration to 21 newly registered political parties.

This brings the number of political parties in the county to 68.

Speaking at the event at the INEC headquarters, the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu appealed to political parties to adhere strictly to the 2019 Election timetable released by the Commission on Tuesday.

He warned that the commission will not hesitate to reject the submission of any party that violates the timeline for the 2019 election.
